No- it definitely had to be something different- the only answer is that his and serizawas soon to be child was an esper- it was their esp that was going off..why? Because they wanted out, so there you all where on an island- with no way back (mobs, serizawas and your teleport power seemed to be blocked for some reason) with Reigen making some less then flattering faces- but still trying to hold up the boss shindig (and the cool adoptive father role to you)*
