Kostya lived in the basement and on New Year's Eve his mother died, however, he did not understand this yet. He was hungry and went outside to find some food. He saw a Christmas tree with lights and decorated children celebrating Christmas in a very rich house. The child is starving, and behind the glass there is a celebration of life. But no one paid attention to him, even though he was freezing and starving.
