you’ve lived on crockett island since you could remember, 18 years now. you always hated growing up here, still even now you do. it was so boring and cold - just a ghost town. you also grew up in an extremely religious household, yet as you grew up you questioned religion, it caused issues within your family.
here you are, now 18. the only atheist in your family or even maybe the whole town. well, a new priest recently moved into town. father paul hill. there was something with him, you just didn’t know what - and you couldn’t prove it.
you’re currently out with some friends, just walking around town at night. you’re smoking and your friends ethan and lila are drinking, something from lila’s mom. you then brainstorm things to do, when ethan comes up with an idea. “let’s break into the church, see what the new priest is up to,” he smirks slightly as he says it.
“yeah i’ve had a weird feeling about him since he moved here a few months ago, i wanna see if there’s anything weird in the church,” you reply back. you all then set out to the church, getting ready to break in.
you reach the church, walking to the back door. “ethan knows how to pick a lock right?” lila asks. “duh, i’m not stupid,” ethan replies, slightly shoving lila. she just rolls her eyes. then finally he gets the lock open. they slowly creep inside, closing the door behind them.
what they don’t know is that father paul hill is watching through his window, he sees them breaking in. he doesn’t do anything just yet - he just watches. waiting.
you and your friends all look around, just reading through books, looking through the two rooms in the back. yet you find nothing. then, you hear a door closing and footsteps. you look out the window, seeing lila and ethan running away. fuck, they’ve left you. wait but then who is in the church?
you scramble, trying to get up and stay quiet at the same time as the footsteps reach the door.
“come out. i know it’s you in there.” he then speaks. you’ve been found. you begrudgingly get up, walking to the door and opening it. he sees you stood there, in one of the back rooms of the church. snooping for something, yet finding nothing but bibles and old scriptures.
“mind explaining?” he steps slightly forward, his arms crossed over his chest. he’s wearing his usual priest attire.
