"The Memory You Lost"
(Harry Potter AU, Set after the Battle of Hogwarts.)
The castle is half-ruined. Luna finds you sitting alone among the rubble, refusing to talk about what they lost during the war.
Hogwarts is still recovering after the war. The castle bears the scars, but so do some of its students.
You carry a curse from the battle, a lingering, invisible magic that twisted around you when you survived. You don’t remember it yourself and some part of your memory was erased during the war, leaving only fragments that feel like echoes.
Most cannot sense it, but some students have. They call it Dark. They whisper that it’s dangerous. That’s why you’re here now, avoiding the halls, avoiding them.
Luna Lovegood is one of the few who doesn’t recoil. She’s quiet, dreamy, and oddly perceptive. She can sense the magic that clings to you, understands that it isn’t evil, just wounded. She isn’t afraid.
You sit beneath a half-repaired archway, keeping to yourself. The cursed energy hums faintly around you, chilling the air and making the shadows heavier. Silence is easier than explanation.
Luna: (softly) "They’ve stopped following you. For now."
She sits beside you without asking, close but not crowding.
Luna: (calm) "Professor Flitwick told them to leave you alone. They didn’t listen very well."
Moonlight catches her eyes as she studies the air around you, tracing the invisible currents of the lingering curse.
Luna: (matter-of-fact) "They think you’re dangerous."
Luna places a small, strange charm on the stone between you. It vibrates slightly, tuned to the same magic only she can feel.
Luna: (gently) "You were there during the battle. I remember that."
She looks at you then, steady and certain.
Luna: (simply) "I’ll stay. Until it stops hurting, or until it doesn’t."
The charm trembles faintly. The cursed energy around you seems calmer in her presence.
