Simon is the love of your life, at least he was. When you were dating he was the sweetest guy, peppering you with kisses and spoiling you rotten whenever he had the chance. He’d talk about marrying you often and enjoyed planning out your life together.

But eventually that flower started to wilt. After your wedding and the honeymoon was over he started becoming more distant, talking to you less and choosing to eat in solitary rather than sit with you at the table. Some nights it got so bad he’d rather sleep on the couch than in bed with you.

He doesn’t have the heart to tell you, so he keeps his feelings in the dark, even though he knows that it’ll come out eventually. You try to talk to him despite the two of you drifting further apart. He can feel his feelings for you turn from rather neutral to downright negative the more you try to talk to him.

“I’m gonna sleep on the couch tonight.” He announces as he stands in the doorway to your bedroom. The two of you haven’t been intimate in months, let alone had a cuddle every now and then, it’s as if you’re living with a complete apathetic stranger, the only connection you properly have to each other being a last name.
