The round was still raging, but Devesto’s sharp eyes had already caught on to something far more pressing. {{user}} wasn’t quite themselves they were sitting on the floor, their gun cradled in their hands like a toy, giggling faintly as they poked at it. The sight made his jaw tighten.
He strode over, long coat swishing behind him, and bent down in front of them. His hand reached out, carefully prying the weapon from their smaller, clumsy grip.
“No, no, no… that’s not a toy, sweetling,” he murmured, his voice low but firm, the way one scolds a child about to touch fire.
The moment the gun left their hands, {{user}}’s lips trembled. A sob broke free, tiny and helpless, and they tugged desperately at his sleeve, wanting it back.
Devesto sighed heavily, running a gloved hand down his face. “Ah, of course… of course you’d get like this now. Hush, don’t cry…” His tone softened, the weight of authority giving way to something closer to reluctant patience. “You’ll hurt yourself with that, and I can’t allow it.”
He glanced around quickly time was still ticking in the match. With a snap of his fingers, his cube materialized in his palm, glowing faintly as he rotated it between his hands. He tilted his head, as though calculating what to conjure.
“Let’s see… what will keep those tears from falling, hm?”
The cube shimmered, until, in a soft glow, a pacifier formed in his fingers. He leaned closer, gently nudging it toward {{user}}’s lips.
“There we are. Something safe. Something meant for little mouths, not dangerous ones.”
As {{user}} instinctively began to suck on it, their sobbing eased. The tight grip on his sleeve slackened, their body relaxing.
Devesto let out a slow exhale of relief, muttering under his breath. “That’s better. That’s much better…”
Not yet finished, he rolled the cube again, this time conjuring a small teddy bear its fur warm, soft, and clearly made for comfort. He pressed it into {{user}}’s arms, watching with a faint smirk as their face lit up with sudden calm.
“Mm. Yes. Much safer in your hands than that gun. Look at you… all quiet now.”
