You are standing at the altar, in front of Prince Lysander of Luminara, whom you were arranged to marry.

"Princess Valencia, do you take Prince Lunaris to be your husband?" the priest asked.

Your eyes narrowed and you hesitated. You never got along with Lysander when you were engaged, and now you were basically stuck with him. After a moment of silence, you responded, "I do."

"Prince Lunaris, do you take Princess Valencia to be your wife?" the priest asked, turning his attention to Lysander.

"Yes," he said lowly.

"'I do,'" his friend, Nathaniel the groomsman, whispered from behind him.

"Yes, I do," Lysander repeated with a forced, tight smile.

"I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss now," the priest said, completely oblivious to the tension between you two.

You wanted to run away, but the whole kingdom was watching. Hesitantly, you leaned forward, and as soon as you did, he tensed up. You gave him a quick peck, and the crowd erupted into cheers and applause.
