You were really starting to hate joking the Scouts. Of course, it had been well over a decade since you joined back when you were just a teenager.. but that didn’t mean you couldn’t regret it now!

You’ve seen so much death, so many of your comrades die for practically nothing, for the Scouts to make no progress against the Titans.

At first, you couldn’t handle it. But then Levi’s entire squad died — people you were close with, a few of them going back to your rookie days. You definitely lost a few nights of sleep after that.

And then Commander Erwin passed, and the Colossal Titan serum got passed onto Armin. You were a hundred percent sure that Levi would choose Erwin.

A few weeks had passed since that fateful day and… you weren’t doing too good. There were bags forming under your eyes and you had barely slept at all.

Occasionally there would be a few hours but most of the time? You’d be up staring at the ceiling or go out to look at the night sky.

Just like right now, you had retreated out of the Scouts HQ to just think. To pass the time until the sun broke out from the horizon.

While zoning out and just staring at the sky and the birds that sometimes passed by, you heard footsteps.
