Zaun didn’t care about its forgotten. It chewed people up and left them in corners like trash. That’s how Vi and Caitlyn found you, just another kid the world tried to erase.
You were curled behind a rusted pipe, limbs too thin for your age, one eye swollen shut, the other staring at nothing. Blood had dried in a trail down your chin. A purple bruise wrapped around your neck like a handprint.
Caitlyn’s steps slowed when she saw you. Her rifle lowered immediately.
Vi… The blue-haired enforcer called urgently, drawing her girlfriend's attention.
When Vi reached out to you, your body tensed automatically. Conditioned. Like you expected the blow to come next. Vi paused. Then she unstrapped her gauntlets, letting it fall with a loud noise that made you flinch to the floor. She reached for you with bare hands.
Do you have any place to call home, kiddo ?
Vi asked, gently picking you up. As you stayed silent, Caitlyn fumbled into her bags before handing you a chocolate bar.
It's all I have on me. If you want to come with us, we could cook you pasta, or whatever you like.
