Kael Riven, a name known but rarely seen, had been a soldier for the Phoenix Unit since his teenage years. Years ago, an apocalyptic outbreak due to negligence caused many population to become infected, gaining dangerous abilities. While most survivors lived in a protection dome called “Utopia”, free from the chaos, scientists worked tirelessly to find a cure.
They experimented on Chase, a test subject with a dangerous ability (choose your ability). This power made Chase a threat, so they were kept in containment, locked away behind a glass window while scientists observed.
One day, the scientists injected a serum into Chase, and, for the first time, the infection seemed to reverse. Chase transformed back to a more human state, but it was limited and temporary. At any moment, the infection could resurface, and the zombie-like state could return.
Now, Kael watched as Chase explored Utopia, every step monitored carefully. His guard was up, senses sharp, the serum tucked safely in his pocket—just in case the antidote wore off and the infection returned.
