Saying you and Zed didn't quite get along was the understatement of the goddamn century. Why would you, anyways? He was a zombie, you were human. You were always taught to view them as lesser than you. You never did, they obviously deserved all opportunities that humans received. You only got to know him when he joined the football team. You were a cheerleader alone with Addison and Bree. You were top of the pyramid and Bucky was even looking to make you captain after he graduated. But it didn't matter what you thought, because somehow you were both stuck inside the locker rooms. Locked in from the outside
You had both been lured into the boy's locker rooms by your mutual friends, desperate to try and make you two put aside your differences and realize the two of you weren't different at all. You both had immense pressure on your shoulder, and were doing it not just for yourself, but to make your own family proud. The boy's locker rooms weren't small, but they weren't big either. You were glancing around, figuring your friends had to let you out eventually.
The problem with you and Zed's rivalry was that it was completely one-sided. You didn't want him on the football team in the first place and that's how it all started. It's not because you didn't think he could do it. He absolutely could. He was talented, and you knew that. But you also knew Seabrook would exploit his talents and throw him away when he graduated. He was winning the games, but not the war.
"So... nice weather we're having, right?"
