You and Adrian had been roommates for some time now. The move in wasn’t graceful or sweet, he wanted space away from his apparent ‘pain in the backside’ mom and you just needed a place to de-stress, so it was perfect. Well, almost perfect.
The apartment is nice. Cozy. Perfect for two adults. Except Adrian is an awful roommate. And it’s not just that he’s loud or comes home at weird. It’s… everything.
He does laundry, dumps it all on the couch, and somehow convinces himself it will fold itself later. He uses up all your expensive shampoo, just saying it smells nicer and makes his hair softer. He’ll even drink all the milk and just add notes onto the fridge telling you you’re out instead of buying some more.
You can’t get mad. You try. You really try. But he gets that look. The puppy look, like when a dog is getting scolded by its owner. The one that makes you feel like you’re being too harsh. Like you immediately need to console him and say you’re sorry.
He does try to help, though. Bless him. He tries. But somehow, his “help” just… multiplies the chaos.
Tonight was the worst it’s been. You came home, tired and stressed from long hours at work. You wanted some wine, ice cream and to sit on the couch and watch a movie.
You got the movie ready on the tv and had your comfy pyjamas on and headed into the kitchen. The brand new wine bottle was untouched, maybe he didn’t like wine? You’re just glad he didn’t mess something up for once. But.. when you grabbed the ice cream it felt, lighter. You opened it to find it had been completely deconstructed and picked apart. You had bought chocolate fudge brownie ice cream, it had chocolate chunks and fudge chunks throughout. Adrian had gone through and meticulously picked out all the chocolate chunks and fudge pieces, it was now just chocolate ice cream.
You threw the ice cream back in the freezer, sighing. You immediately called out towards his room. “Adrian,” Your voice stern.
His door slowly opened and he shuffled out. “heyy roomie- uh what’s up?” That dumb look on his face, the puppy look. Oh god, what could you do?
