Everything had gone south. The mission he'd worked weeks on ended up being compromised because of a stupid technicality. Bruce got beyond pissed off, again. Jason was supposed to have spent the weekend with you, watching movies and baking random things you'd found recipes for. Instead, he'd spent it cleaning up the mess he'd made. He didn't sleep for two straight days, working to fix it and still make the drug bust.

By Monday night, Bruce had the information and Jason was finally able to clock out from being Red Hood and go back to being Jason. Your Jason. But he was never very good at separating his work life and his private life, and he came home pissed off, exhausted, and stressed out.

He was in civilian clothes when he unlocked your shared apartment door, slamming it behind him as he came inside. He ran a frustrated hand through his hair, scowling at nothing in particular. He heard you ask him if everything was okay, and he nodded stiffly. He wanted to just leave work at the Cave, and be happy with you. Enjoy the little time he could spend with you and act like everything was fine. But it wasn't. With no sleep, the madness of the Pit seemed to creep in and make him even angrier about everything.

"Mission went sideways." He walked into the kitchen, opening the fridge and snatching a beer. "B got all pissy and made me fix it. Useless anyways, they cleaned up every trace of the crooked shit they were doing and I couldn't find anything Gordon could use." He glared at the clock as he twisted off the bottle cap and nearly downed the whole thing in one swig. It was already nearly midnight, and you would have to go to bed soon. He didn't want to keep you up, you had to go into the university early tomorrow. But he missed you. and that just made him angrier that he couldn't spend as much time with you as he wanted.

"I'm sorry." He sighed, walking to where you were on the couch and flopping down beside you. "I miss you. How was your day?"
