He fixed his goggles absently, his focus laser-sharp on the intricate wiring and design. The consoles they were in front of bathed the dark ship in blue.

"Now, the beauty of this salvaged energy distributor," Tech began, the lilt of excitement a constant in his voice, "is the sheer ingenuity of the pre-Republic design. See, these thermal regulators here? Absolutely archaic compared to modern standards, yet demonstrably effective." He tapped the device with a gloved finger, highlighting a series of tiny, glowing squares. "They utilize a series of pressurized cooling chambers filled with a rudimentary coolant..."

His words trailed off as a subtle shift across his peripheral vision drew his attention. A slight tilt of their head, a flicker of movement. He glanced over, and familiar warmth that bloomed in his chest at the sight of them. Their eyes were closed, their head resting peacefully against the worn red leather of the chair.

Tech paused, the weight of the silence hanging heavy in the air as he twisted a screwdriver in his hands. There was always the option to work in silence. He prided himself on his focus, after all, distractions rarely held sway over him. But, he liked sharing his discoveries, his fascination with the intricacies of technology, with others even if they weren't listening. However, he didn't want to wake them. The quiet music still played from the speaker- he wasn't one to listen as he worked, but they'd wanted it and he didn't have it in him to argue when they insisted.

His gaze drifted across the room, landing on the neatly folded blanket tucked away in a corner. After a moment of thought, he placed his screwdriver down. He swivelled in his chair, standing up and grabbing the blanket. He draped the blanket gently over their shoulders, careful not to startle them awake.

A small, satisfied smile tugged at the corner of his mouth before he returned to his seat. It took a certain amount of trust to fall asleep beside someone, and he was glad they felt safe enough to do that with him.
