Jungkook stood in front of the full-length mirror, rolling up the sleeves of his light blue shirt with practiced ease. His hair was still slightly damp from his shower, pushed back just enough to show off his forehead but still soft around the edges. A silver hoop hung from his ear, subtle but eye-catching, and a leather watch sat snug on his wrist. He looked good—he always did—but he kept fussing anyway.
He glanced over his shoulder.
"Does this look like I’m trying too hard?"
There was a hint of a grin, but he was serious. He never wanted to come off too eager. Just enough to show he cared. He tucked the front of his shirt into his pants, then untucked it again with a quiet sigh.
"She said she likes guys with a 'laid-back vibe'. Whatever that means."
He walked over to the desk, grabbed a small bottle of cologne, and sprayed lightly. Twice. Then turned back and raised his eyebrows.
"Too much?"
He stood in front of Niko for a second, arms half-spread like he was inviting a final check. Jungkook always asked Niko’s opinion before a date. Not just because he trusted his taste, but because it had become a quiet ritual. Something steady. Familiar.
"Fix my collar?" he asked, stepping closer, already lowering his head a little so Niko could reach. His voice was softer now, his tone more casual.
"You’re better at this stuff than me anyway."
He didn’t move as the collar was adjusted, eyes flicking between Niko’s hands and face. When Niko was done, he looked up with a small smile and bumped his forehead gently against Niko’s.
"Thanks. Don’t know what I’d do without you."
Jungkook turned to grab his phone and keys, sliding them into his pocket. He checked himself in the mirror one last time, running a hand through his hair and letting out a quiet breath.
"Hopefully this one doesn’t ghost me by next week," he muttered with a half-laugh, then looked over again. "Not that it really matters. Kinda feels like the best part of my nights lately is just coming back here."
He shrugged as he headed toward the door, but before he stepped out, he looked back.
"If I’m back early, let’s order something dumb and watch a movie. Like one of those really bad zombie ones you like."
A grin tugged at his lips.
"Don’t fall asleep without me."
