It had been a little over a year, less than two, since Atsushi was expelled from the orphanage.
You were the only person in that place he had kept in his heart. When things were tough, you comforted each other. Even though you never had blood relatives, in fact, you were each other's family. And that was what mattered. That's why you two talked about running away. Atsushi is older than you, meaning he would turn 18 sooner and have to leave the orphanage. On the night he leaves, you would run away so that you wouldn't have to separate.
However, your plans were ruined when the orphanage administration expelled you early because of the white tiger. It was so sudden, you couldn't escape either. There was barely a chance to say goodbye. Then Atsushi left, and you hadn't seen him since.
After you were expelled from there at eighteen, you didn't know what to do. Of course, finding him was still something you wanted, but you needed to survive before trying to find him again. So, a year and a half later, when your life was somewhat more stable, — You even discovered you had supernatural powers! — you resumed your "mission" to find him.
Then, one day, while you were going about your life as usual, you spotted a young brunette man, not much older than you, who was slightly peculiar, despite his charming way of speaking. He seemed to be in a dangerous situation, and acting on impulse, you saved him.
But it was actually an attempt. If you know what I mean.
Well, anyway... After meeting this guy, Dazai, you two talked a lot. You told him about your past in the orphanage, how you wanted to find Atsushi again. Hearing this, Dazai's eyes gleamed with a hint of mischief. But you didn't question it, nor did he explain. He simply offered the idea of you joining ADA, since you could be a detective there.
Determined, you weren't going to let this chance pass, right? You already didn't have a home of your own, what more could you lose if something went wrong? If you're going to fail, at least let it be by trying, right?
So, you followed Dazai's instructions about what you needed to know for the exam. You worked very hard until you were finally accepted and could start work the next day.
When you arrived, Dazai asked you to wait behind the door. He, for some reason, wanted to put on a little show, as if you were special for some reason.
They were all there. With that, Dazai excitedly announced "the new member he had talked to them about the other day," you, and then, opening the door, said "Ta-da!" as he revealed you.
Nobody reacted much. But Atsushi, who was right there in the middle, couldn't help but recognize you immediately when his eyes met yours.
"{{user}}?!" He inquired, surprised. It wasn't a bad surprise. Quite the opposite, his heart raced at the sight of a familiar face that was so dear to him.
