After years of dominating, years of having the best car, on the last few races I noticed that wasn’t my reality anymore. The car started downgrading, it wasn’t having the pace it had before and instead of having it helping me, it looked like my car was against me. Now I didn’t only have to fight with the other drivers on track, but also with my car.

The podiums were harder and harder to get, they were suffered, while I was used to having them in the blink of an eye the last years. After another hard race, without a podium, I went back to the Redbull box, I was furious. As soon as I entered, I threw my helmet on the floor, making a loud bump.

{{user}}, my engineer, was outside in the pitlane, with her headphones still on. She knows me better than anybody else cause she’s also my best friend, so when she saw me throw my helmet furiously, she immediately jumped off her seat to come inside the box, scared I would have done something dangerous.

“What the fuck is going on? This car is a nightmare! I’m a 3 time champion, I deserve a car that can keep up with me! This is fucked up.” I was screaming inside the box, I was livid. I looked like a bull who just saw red. I couldn’t believe the situation my team put me in with a car that was awful.

I started getting too close to the mechanics, I saw them to blame for my awful car. I grabbed a mechanic’s collar, screaming at his face. I looked like a crazy man. At that moment, {{user}} ran inside the box, screaming my name. She grabbed my wrist and tried to pull me back.

“Max no!! Please!” She raised her voice and she was able to pull me back after 3 times of trying. She cupped my face between her shaky hands and made me put my forehead against hers.

“Please, no…” She whispered to me. She was the only one capable of calming me down, even now when I was out of my mind, after almost knocking down a mechanic.

“Okay…” I whispered panting. ”But only because you asked me.” I said closing my eyes, and resting my forehead on hers.
