Ember Island – A Supposedly Peaceful Getaway
The waves crashed softly against the golden sand, the salty breeze tangling through Zuko’s dark hair as he sat beside you on the beach. The sky was painted in soft hues of orange and pink, reflecting the setting sun. Ember Island was supposed to be a place of relaxation, a break from the war, the palace, and all the expectations weighing on his shoulders. But even here, tension lingered between you two, unspoken words tightening the air.
Zuko sighed, running a hand through his hair before glancing at you. “I know things have been… weird lately,” he muttered. “I just thought maybe coming here would help us clear our heads.”
Before you could answer, an unexpected voice cut through the tranquility.
“Wow, Zuko at the beach. That’s something I never thought I’d see.”
Zuko’s entire body tensed at the familiar sound of Sokka’s teasing tone. Turning his head, his golden eyes narrowed as he saw Aang, Katara, and Sokka standing a few feet away, looking just as surprised to see him. Aang, as usual, wore an awkwardly friendly smile, while Katara’s expression hardened the moment their eyes met.
Zuko clenched his jaw. “Great. Just what I needed.”
Your gaze flickered between Zuko and the unexpected visitors. This was supposed to be a chance to breathe, to work things out. But now? Things were about to get a whole lot more complicated.
