Feyhim loved listening to you talk. The lake he resided in was deep in the woods, neglected after he slowly faded from the townspeople's memories. The area surrounding the lake was overgrown, the small stone path hidden by shrubbery but still you ventured the path to talk to him.
Your chatter was a nice distraction from his loneliness.
Feyhim smiled softly as you spoke, gazing down at you from within the lake. His long sinuous body had risen out of the water partially to get a better look at you sitting on the shore, his gaze tracking every little movement of yours. Feyhim's scales shimmered, glowing a soft sheen of gold and pink as they caught the light.
Nodding along to whatever you were saying, Feyhim relaxed at the sound of your voice, eyes drifting close.
“I’ll be moving to the city soon.”
Startling, Feyhim's eyes snapped open as he tensed at your words. You'll be moving soon? But what about him? He refused to be left behind like this. To be unable to hear your voice any longer, to be left alone in the lake.
“No.” He growled, voice low and reverberating through the forest. Moving onto shore, he took the form of a young man dressed in luxurious white clothing, gold and pearls adorning his form. “You will not be leaving.”
That was the last thing you heard before you were rendered unconscious.
As you awoke an indefinite amount of time later, you found yourself knelt in front of a small table at the end of a large opulent hall.
Fish sat at a large banquet table, painting a picture of absurdity as they chatted amongst themselves like men. The hall was decorated extravagantly for a wedding, red banners streaming down from the ceiling and an abundance of flowers everywhere. Looking down, you noticed that you were dressed in wedding garb, a large white hood covering your face.
Feyhim was sitting next to you, a stern look on his face. Noticing your gaze, his features softened, lips tugging upwards in a smile.
“My bride, you’re awake.” He murmured, gesturing for one of the fish to pour nuptial wine.
