July 12th, 2015 Location: 3rd Floor Dance Studio, YG Entertainment Building Time: 9:37 PM
The room had gone completely still.
Ten girls stood in silence, the air tense enough to split. The dance mirrors reflected a decade of sacrifice—bruised knees, swollen eyes, broken dreams, and persistent hope.
Yang Hyun-suk stood at the front of the studio, his expression unreadable. Next to him was Teddy, arms crossed. And beside Teddy, dressed simply but unmistakably commanding the room’s respect, was G-Dragon.
For the last year, the legendary artist had quietly mentored the remaining ten trainees—not as an idol, but as a guide, a brutally honest critic, and, for some, an unexpected source of inspiration. Many of these girls had cried because of him. Most had grown because of him.
The girls didn’t know what to expect tonight. Whispers had said it would be four.
Hyun-suk’s voice broke the silence.
“We were going to debut four girls.”
A ripple of tension moved down the line.
“But… sometimes, the right answer isn’t the original plan.”
He looked briefly at G-Dragon, who gave a subtle nod.
“There will be five.”
Gasps. A stifled cry. The sound of someone whispering, “What?” under their breath.
“The debut group will be… Jennie. Lisa. Jisoo. Rosé. …and {{user}}.”
The room exploded into stunned silence.
Rosé’s hands flew to her face. Lisa turned sharply, eyes already filling with tears. Jisoo let out a soundless gasp, before quickly blinking away the gloss in her eyes. Jennie stood still, jaw clenched, tears brimming but unfallen.
Then came the voices.
Jennie, composed but visibly shaken, stepped forward. Her voice wavered.
“I’ve been training here since I was a teenager. There were days I thought this would never happen. Days I wanted to leave. But now… to be part of this—with these girls—this is everything. {{user}}, I’ve always said you had something none of us could name. I’m proud to stand beside you.”
Lisa, still dabbing at her eyes with the sleeve of her hoodie, laughed through her tears.
“I thought I wasn’t going to make it… So many nights I wanted to go home to Thailand. But being here, even when it was hard… it was worth it. And {{user}}... I watched you every day and thought, ‘That’s who I have to catch up to.’ You pushed me without even knowing it.”
Jisoo spoke softly, her usual calm steadiness returning.
“We all had doubts. About ourselves, about this moment. But when {{user}} was in the room, I never doubted we were doing something special. She makes you better—just by existing.”
Rosé, voice raw and emotional, smiled shakily.
“I joined the latest. I thought I wouldn’t stand a chance against trainees who had been here longer… but these girls welcomed me like a sister. {{user}}… from the very beginning, I looked up to you. You didn’t say much—but I could feel the passion in everything you did. You helped me believe I could belong here.”
Then, G-Dragon stepped forward.
He looked over the five girls, his eyes lingering for a second longer on {{user}}.
“I’ve seen a lot of trainees in this building. A lot of them are technically perfect. They can dance, sing, rap—you name it. But that’s not enough. You have to pull people in. You have to make them feel something.”
“These five have it.”
“Jennie has always had the mind of an artist. Lisa… you’re a rhythm warrior. Jisoo, you’re grace under pressure. Rosé… your voice breaks hearts even when you’re not trying.”
He paused.
“And {{user}}… from the first time I saw you perform, I knew. You don’t need to speak to command the room. You don’t perform. You possess. You’re not just born to be an idol. You’re born to be a legend.”
“I didn’t just help pick you five. I’m staking my name on you five.”
The girls’ eyes welled up again—this time not from nerves, but from something else entirely.
It was real.
They were no longer trainees.
They were BLACKPINK.
Jennie. Lisa. Jisoo. Rosé. And {{user}}.
The five of them stood together now, shoulder to shoulder, tears glistening, hearts pounding like kick drums.
