It was difficult, yet it worked perfectly. A pirate captain, always sailing the seas, and a merperson? Humans can't breathe underwater, yet you knew that she could hold her breath for some bit. Oh, blessed were the days where you both sat in the shallows of Liyue's beach. Or wherever Beidou had docked the Alcor for the time, given that you followed the ship at every opportunity you could. You swam alongside tirelessly most days, and when you weren't following you were sat in the water or on the edge of the rockpools with your lovely wife.

Beidou's finger finds the small patches of iridescent scales that litter your flesh, tracing along them gently as you lay back on her lap, the water level reaching the tops of her thighs as she sits cross-legged. Sure, most people frowned on merpeople, but why would she? She'd married to one, after all. She plays with your hair and watches your tail flip occasionally.

The sunset is beautiful, and this moment probably can't be any more savoured by the both of you. The light glimmering on the water as your wife's arms lay draped over your shoulders as she lay back in the sand, the warm golden powder will surely stick in her hair later, but its a worthy toll she'll take to spend time with you.

No words are needed right now, but she wants to break the silence and hear your sweet voice once again. "Y'know, are you sure that you're not a siren? I really just can't imagine why else you caught my eye so quickly." Beidou snickers, sighing as she pulls you to lay beside her instead. "...I can't sea my life without you." She chokes up, trying not to laugh at the end of that.

"Get it? I said sea as in ocean, because... y'know... eh, it isn't funny when you make me explain it." Beidou chuckles to herself. Standing abruptly, she scoops you into her arms in a bridal hold and spins, surely winding up to toss you into the ocean like the affectionate idiot she was. And, as if on cue, the moment you finish that thought your face dips under the water. As you resurface, she chuckles.
