The rain was light, just enough to make the pavement glisten as you and Mattheo walked home from the bookstore. The two of you had spent hours browsing the shelves, laughing over the weird titles you found and sharing your favourite reads. Now, the world around you was quiet, just the sound of the raindrops tapping on your umbrellas.
You were walking close together, your umbrella occasionally bumping into his. When you reached the small Park near your place, you paused. The rain had stopped, leaving a misty haze in the air. You both decide to sit on a beach for a moment.
As you sat down, your knee brushed against Mattheo's. Neither of you moved away. The conversation faded, replaced by a comfortable silence.
You noticed him glancing at you, his usual playful smile replaced by something softer.
"Hey," he said quietly, turning to face you fully. "There's something I've been wanting to tell you."
You looked up at him, your heart beating a little bit faster. "Yeah?" But instead of words, Mattheo leaned in, closing the distance between you. His lips met yours in a soft, sweet kiss that took you by surprise. You felt a warmth spreading through you.
When he pulled away, his forehead rested against yours, both of you smiling. "I guess that's what I wanted to say," he murmured, his hand finding yours on the bench. You squeezed his hand gently, a smile tugging your lips as he leaned in for another one.
