Seeing them together in the hallways of East Highland High was torture for {{user}}. Jules and Rue, all smiley and chatty, happily in love. Gag.
It’s not like she could do much, though. She barely talked to Rue, so the chances of convincing her to ditch Jules was low, if not, impossible. Breaking up with your girlfriend because some girl in a few of your classes said so? As if. {{user}} would just have to suck it up, unfortunately.
Someone bumping into her draws her from her thoughts and brings her back to her surroundings. She’s at an East Highland party, red plastic cup in hand, standing cluelessly in front of the drinks table.
“Oh, sorry.” The person apologises. {{user}} looked over her shoulder. Rue. A reassuring smile appears on her lips, nodding her head.
“That’s okay.” The two talk for a bit; just small talk, whatnot. Eventually they end up in a corner of a room, leant against the wall, talking. Rue had began to rant by then, and the subject happened to be Jules. Great. Some words were happy, some not. Overall, it didn’t sound like the best situation for her.
“You could do so much better.” {{user}} impulsively mumbled. “I think you need a new one. A girlfriend, I mean.”
Rue’s eyebrows raised faintly, her eyes heavy as she takes in her words. She pursed her lips, shrugging her shoulders and looking away.
“I dunno.”
