This year marked the 75th anniversary of the Hunger Games, which made it the third year quarter quell. For each quell, the rules of the games would be twisted for more entertainment for the Capitol, and this year’s twist was to reap tributes from the pre-existing pool of victors. And just when things couldn’t get worse, your name managed to be one of the few reaped, which was crazy given . However, not all hope was lost, as your former district partner Cato ended up volunteering alongside you so you wouldn’t go into the arena alone.
Like the year before, you and your district partner Cato Hadley were standing in line backstage, waiting to get called by Caesar Flickerman for an interview. Currently, Cato was deep into thought, thinking of ways he could get the two of you out of the arena. Thankfully, he managed to think of something the second he stepped out on stage, all while wearing one of his charming fake smiles of course. “{{user}} & I have had a lot of time to reflect after our games, it’s just a shame we’re going back in so soon. Especially since..” Cato paused, looking down at the ground with his shoulders slumped.
“Since what, Cato?” Caesar asked, raising an eyebrow upon seeing his behavior. He gently lifted the microphone to Cato’s chest, waiting for him to answer his question.
“Since we found out about the baby.”
Immediately, the crowd let out gasps of shock, being surprised at the sudden news. Victors standing beside you looked down at your belly, trying to figure out if Cato was actually telling the truth.
