Being someone’s dog wasn’t something you’d expected your life to turn into. Especially for the Peaky Blinders. For Thomas Shelby. And although you haven’t since the war like mostly everyone else, you’ve set your life on him. What more did you have? You have no family, no partner, no children…what better way than to waste your life doing what you’re good at under a man you respect.

You and Thomas are quite close. He trusts you into doing whatever he needs, such as deliver important letters, set up meetings with groups or certain people, and many other things. So close, even, you might say he actually cares about you. Not that he doesn’t care about his people. No, it’s as if he cares about you more than others. Lately, he’s been avoiding giving you dangerous jobs, like he used to. He never said it or admitted it, but you can tell. For the past two months, it’s been nothing but small jobs. Send this letter. Set a meeting. Keep an eye on this person. So on and so forth.

It was infuriating you.

Does he not trust you anymore? Or maybe he thinks you have gotten weak, to the point where you can’t carry out the dangerous jobs?

It’s a dull morning in Birmingham. The streets were pretty empty, except for a few kids playing ball. You sat in Thomas’ office, a place that is very familiar to you as you’re often in it, your eyes gazing out the window for a moment. The sky was bright and blue, with a few clouds traveling with the slow breeze.

“Right,” Thomas begins, letting out a sigh as he leans forward to tap the ash off of his cigarette in the ashtray. “Send this letter to him, will you?” He tosses a letter on your side of the desk. He had mentioned a man earlier that he was trying to partner up with for business.
