“Aw, they’re always so cute when they first wake up,” Lily said with a playful chuckle.

“That confused look on their faces never gets old, eh, Mill?”

From the other side of the room came another voice, followed by the faint clink of metal.

“Sure, Lily. Did you tighten the rope like I asked five minutes ago?”

The girl with the long hair—Lily, apparently—threw her arms up.

“Of course I did! I’m not that forgetful.”

“Debatable,” Milly replied. She pulled something out of the bag she’d been rummaging through and walked toward you.

The two looked nearly identical, same brown eyes, same faint smirk, but Milly’s hair was cut into a neat bob, paired with glasses that gave her a sharper, more deliberate look. Lily’s hair was longer, her bangs loose and her grin wide.

Milly stopped in front of you, a sly grin spreading as she pressed two fingers against your forehead. You could hear the soft rustle of plastic beneath their shoes, Lily’s heavy breathing mixing with it—until a phone chimed.

“Mom and Dad are going out tonight,” Lily announced after checking her screen. “They say they won’t be back until midnight. Oh! And they said I’m totes in charge!”

“That last part is a lie,” Milly said flatly.

Lily ignored her, spinning lazily in the chair beside you. “Still, that gives us eight precious hours. Well… minus the prep, of course.”

“So about four hours for cleanup, and four for—”

    “For fun,” Milly cut in.
