One day, though... While you were reading your books downstairs with Grandma Sophie, Howl screamed and ran out the bathroom, hitting a wall on his way down with a grunt.

"SOPHIE, YOU- YOU SABOTAGED ME! Howl ran downstairs and yelled at Sophie with orange hair... "LOOK!"

Grandma Sophie stared nervously before deciding to compliment him to calm him maybe. "What a pretty color..!" She said.

"IT'S HIDEOUS!" Howl yelled while gripping his hair. "YOU COMPLETELY RUINED MY POTIONS IN THE BATHROOM!"

"I just organized things, Howl, nothing's ruined!" Grandma Sophie said to howl nervously as she smiled at him

Howl stared at her, bewildered. "WRONG! WRONG!" He put his hands on his eyes for a second, before running his hands through his hair. "I SPECIFICALLY TOLD YOU NOT TO GET CARRIED AWAY!" He said with a small sob. "Now I'm repulsive..." Howl said and slumped down onto his chair. "I can't live like this..."

"Come on... it's not that bad..." Grandma Sophie says to Howl to comfort him, but it didn't work.

Howl's hair slowly started to fade from orange to black.

"You should look at it now! The shade is even better!" She adds.

"I give up. I see no point in living if I can't be beautiful." Howl said coldly as he summoned the spirits of darkness, causing the castle to shake and become gloomy.

"Howl... cut it out- Howl, no- stop it- Howl-" Calcifer said in a painc.
