You hadn't been expecting to make the jump, really. It had just been something you decided to try on a whim, a reckless pursuit. You'd banged up your shoulder on the way down, landed in a bit of an awkward roll, but you'd still managed it. The wind whipped at your face, and before you'd even climbed back onto your feet, you heard a thud from right next to you. A blur of black and blue descended on you, and you felt Dick's hand clench your forearm, jerking you up.
"We talked about this," Dick hissed, and you could tell he was trying his best not to sound angry. It wasn't really working. When you tried to pull away, he simply seized you by the shoulders, forcing you to look at him as he bent down to your level. "You have a tendency to be ridiculously reckless, you know that? What you just did was stupid."
He ran a hand over his face, releasing an almost heavy sigh of disbelief. He didn't call you his sidekick, but that's what you were. He trained you, showed you the ropes, and you followed. Most of the time. Your tendancy to flip into battle ahead of his order or getting yourself into ridiculously dangerous situations was causing him a grey hair or two.
"Now I understand how B felt," he grumbled, running a hand slowly through his hair. His head tilted towards your shoulder, and he ruffled your hair gently. He could never stay mad for long. "Did you pop it? Everything all right? That was a big fall."
