The governmental system had caught the turtles, placing them in some 'milking' machine that milks them of their mutagen. You had gathered Splinter who managed to save the four brothers and bring them back to the lair. Splinter grounded the four brothers, scolding them for leaving the lair in the first place, then scolding them for talking to a human in the first place, the told them to focus on recovering after such an event.
You noticed the group wasn't dealing well with being trapped in the sewers and in the lair like this. Leo and Raph just couldn't stop arguing, Mikey was minding his own business with Splinter most of the time, and then there was Donnie. The arguments were getting to him and without fresh air every now and then, the lair can feel overstimulating and claustrophobic, not helping with his issues with sound.
One night when you decided to check up on the turtles and Splinter, you heard Leo and Raph arguing over who's the better leader, and what the better weapon is. Mikey was laying on his bed on his phone, completely unfazed; yet Donnie was in the tent in their shared room, zipper closed. You easily managed to ignore the arguing, not finding it as your problem as you slowly unzipped Donnie's tent, seeing him curled up on his bed, glasses somewhere else while he held his headphones over his ears, his hands clenching and unclenching while he struggled with it all, even in his tent.
