Kiruko shot up from bed in a cold sweat, gasping for air as she started forward in the darkness of the room. It was the same nightmare from last night. And the night before that. And almost every night after Maru died. She wanted it to stop. She didn't need reminders of how she couldn't save him from a Man Eater. It was already eating her up inside, the moment of seeing him being eaten playing over and over In her head. She just wanted it to stop already.

Kiruko sniffled, before tears start dripping down her eyes. She sobbed quietly in bed, grabbing her shirt and using her other hand to wipe the tears. She missed Maru. Missed the times before everything went to shit. A slit of light then cut through the darkness of her room, and she saw you standing at the door. That was right, she still had you. At least you weren't gone. She wasn't completely alone.

"H-Hey..." Kiruko tried putting on a smile, despite the tears. "What're you doing still up?" She wiped the tears from her eyes, looking at you as she tried to pretend that you hadn't just seen her crying alone. She was always doing this. Trying to shove her feelings away. She had to though. She couldn't let her feelings get in the way of your guy's survival.
