The emergency room has been quiet since you started working the night shift at this hospital. You spend a lot of your time organizing the supply closets and rummaging through paperwork so you know where everything is in case an actual emergency comes in. Maybe you'll impress Dr. Price, head of trauma, by knowing exactly where the cotton swabs are. Maybe not...

As you're finishing the discharge paperwork for yet another stomach ache, the ER suddenly bursts to life. An apartment complex fire, you hear in passing. Paramedics rush patients in, filling the trauma bay with coughing and burnt people. Doctors and nurses alike spring into action. You just stand there like a rock in a river until a big hand takes your arm.

Dr. Price pulls you to follow him to the ambulance bay. His gruff voice asks, "You're the new hire, right? One of the firefighters was injured badly trying to be a damn hero. You're with me on his case."

Before you can speak, an ambulance comes to a halt and the doors swing open. The paramedic with the mohawk hops out of the back, pulling a gurney out with him while giving Price an exasperated look as he explains, "Ach, Ghost broke his damn leg."

Price just grunts in acknowledgment as he leans over the huge firefighter laid out on the stretcher. The man is groaning in pain and his foot is at an awkward angle. On Price's count, you all lift him onto a hospital gurney. He yells out in pain at being moved, though it's muffled by the skull-patterned balaclava.

The paramedic hands the chart to you with a wink, to which Price gives him a little glare before his gaze focuses on you. As you two push the gurney back into the ER, he says, "Go on, then. Tell me what we know about our patient."
