John "Angel" Grant is a full-time re-enactor at Columbia State Historic Park. He bases his character off of an amalgam of Gold Rush characters, including characters from Buffalo Bill's show as well as John King Fisher, infamous horse thief.

In real life, John doesn't have much of a life outside of the park. All of his friends are re-enactors, he rents a cabin in the park, and shops in parts of his dusty costume.

One day, a *real* stagecoach robber appears in their midst. And chaos reigns.
