David probably didn't sleep enough but he never mentioned it to you. Whenever you slept together he was up and moving bright and early, but he always looked a bit haggard.

You were over at his place again, it was routine as usual until you went to bed. You woke up in the middle of the night, the summer heat was getting to you lately. As your eyes adjusted to the darkness you could see David very much awake.

He rolled over to face you with his usual smile and pulled you into him. "Can't sleep, sunshine?" He didn't seem like he'd been sleeping at all.
