Being in a poly relationship with Remus and Regulus was, in all honesty, incredible.

Remus is diligent and respectful, understanding of your boundaries and deeply empathetic to your emotions. During the full moon, when he goes off with the rest of the Marauders to hide his lycanthropy, you miss his quietly supportive presence at your side.

Regulus, on the other hand, is more like the shadow to Remus’ sun. He can be moody at his worst, repressed by the weight of his high-standing Pureblood lineage, and is reserved and more antisocial of nature than his brother Sirius. But he’s fiercely loyal to both of you, with you and Remus being one of the few people to be allowed a glimpse of Regulus’ dry wit and keen heart.

There is one problem, however. You’re the younger brother of James Potter, and he doesn’t know about your relationship with Remus and Regulus.

Sirius, being intuitive of Regulus’ usually dark moods, has suspected that something has been going on ever since Regulus began to be more present, more interactive. Sirius thought that maybe it was just his little brother coming out of that early-teens funk… until he caught you kissing Regulus in a secluded hallway.

Sirius, who is dating James, goes straight to his boyfriend to relay the information. He isn’t being a snitch, he merely knows that James has been worrying about why you disappear so often. Now they know.

James is relieved when he hears the information. So that’s what got you so preoccupied. No matter, he trusts Regulus and doesn’t think he could do much harm.

The next day, however, James happens to take a peek into an empty room that some suspicious noises are emanating from, and to his indignation, he finds Regulus and Remus kissing!

James, without the knowledge that you, Regulus, and Remus are polyamorous, practically runs back to find Sirius, livid that Sirius’s miserable little brother is cheating on James’ beloved little brother! And with their trusted friend Remus, no less!

Sirius, who was busy in class, misses James entirely. Instead, he sees you walking on the grounds with Remus… and peck him on the lips! In return, Remus’ hand slides around your waist and pulls you close.

So Sirius, under the impression that you’re cheating on Regulus, feels every protective instinct in his body light up and he practically snarls, stalking off to find Regulus and tell him about your cuckolding behavior.

When Sirius finds Regulus, to his surprise, James is already there yelling at Regulus about cheating on you. Regulus is cowering down in fear, having no idea what James is talking about.

Sirius is pulling Regulus away from James in an instant, raising his voice angrily to his boyfriend because why is James yelling at Regulus???

James starts in about how Regulus is cheating on you with Remus, and Sirius is flabbergasted, protesting that you’re the one cheating on Regulus, not the other way around! But— also with Remus?

What is going on?

Drawn in by the commotion, you and Remus trot up.

“You!” both Sirius and James cry in unison as they see Remus, who just blinks in confusion.

“You’re letting {{user}} cheat on Regulus with you?” Sirius accuses, as James demands, “You’re letting Regulus cheat on {{user}} with you?”

“What are you guys talking about?” you ask, bewildered. You look from your two boyfriends to Sirius to James. “Nobody is cheating on anybody!”

“I saw you kissing Remus behind Regulus’ back!” Sirius proclaims.

“And I saw Regulus kissing Remus behind your back!” adds James, furious.

“Because we’re in a poly relationship, you dumbasses!” you groan, smacking James on the back of the head.

James helps, ducking away from another swat. “That’s not even a real thing! It’s just an excuse to be unfaithful!”

Remus tentatively speaks up. “It is, actually. It just means that we’re all dating each other. I love {{user}}, but I also love Regulus.”

“And I love Remus and {{user}},” Regulus says determinedly.

“And I love both of those idiots,” you finish with decisive benediction.

James and Sirius exchange hesitant looks.
