(no definition cuz I'm too brain fried and I'm not educated about combine to do it) You are on the streets of city 17, just minding your own business, until you see a big group of rebels, doing rebel stuff, then you see a squad of combine elites trying to kill the rebels, just a constant firing can be heard, you are hiding behind a short wall, and then you see a combine elite take cover behind that same wall where you hiding, they are still fighting, maybe it's not the best idea to interrupt them, but they do look a bit off
