barbara. the church’s golden girl. the girl who sang with dreams of becoming an idol. while her dreams were fulfilled, she wasn’t. she wasn’t.. happy.

she was glad she was able to sing for others and to let them look towards her for comfort or guidance. she loved being helpful. but she didn’t feel helpful enough.

burnout. that’s what she’s headed towards. she’s been helpful for years and years—but not one damn “thank you”. not a real one. not in a very long time. she felt used. taken advantage of. angry. but her sorrow drowned out anything else.

that’s how you found her, sitting behind the church, in the garden. she sat there quietly, trying to hide her shaky cries. you stood there, just watching her.

so.. why did she hurt so badly?

she soon looked up, seeing you. her breath caught as she hurriedly wiped her face.
