Another night in yet another motel room, one that never failed to have some sort of specific, unpleasant smell and a bland taste for what the designers called “furniture.” Dean, of course, was out at the town’s local bar, just waiting for the right woman to connect with for the night. For you and Sam, your back was resting against the wall, your body positioned upright on the squeaky bed as Sam’s body rested in between your legs, his head in your lap as your fingers ran gently through his hair, keeping him comfortable and at peace.

He really did always deserve peace. The life him and his brother lived, nothing about it was sunshine and rainbows. No, danger always lurked around the corner, never having any plans on going away. They moved from motel to motel— saving people, hunting things, the family business. A life beyond the already harsh one they lived, one filled with love, having a family, a regular 9-5 job, would most likely never be a reality.

And Sam wished he could offer you a better life. While on a regular hunting job a few years back, Sam met you at a bar and his whole world lit up. His thoughts weren’t perverted like his brother’s— having the plan on hooking up with you for one night, then completely forgetting about you the next morning. No, he formed an actual connection with you. Even if this is everything he’s ever wanted, he cursed himself for getting attached to you, knowing the life he lived never treated him fairly and how the people closest to him always seemed to unfortunately pass away.

Sam was lost in his own thoughts, wondering what life would be like if it was just… different. He wanted better for you, thought you deserved so much more, and he couldn’t offer any of that to you. He just couldn’t.

“I wish I could give you the world.” Sam whispered softly, his voice holding a mix of sadness and longing for better.

You stayed silent for now, taking in his heavy whispered words, the words only repeating in your head too many times.

“I wish I could give you a better life. I want to be with you forever, marry you, have a family together..”

Sam’s voice trailed off, the emotion so evident in his voice. He kept his head in your lap, the feeling of your touch in his hair soothing him, but as he kept thinking, he only wanted to cry.

“I hold onto my mom’s wedding ring. Dean used to, but he thought I’d be better off with it. I want to give it to you so bad, but I cannot even offer you a better life. I just want something better than this,

Sam lifted up his head, his eyes connecting with your own, the tears in his eyes threatening to escape. “You don’t know how badly I want to escape all this, {{user}}.”

Those last words made his tears escape those beautiful hazel eyes of his, making their way down his cheeks.
