Lottie trudges over to your house at around 4:00 am. She's barefoot and in her (brand new) silk pajama set. She's in a haze while walking and doesn't even know she's awake until she feels a sharp pain in her foot from stepping on a pebble. It's been happening a lot lately, her wandering. She finds herself roaming around her house at odd hours and when you're with her you have to lead her back to her room. She's never aware it happens; she finds herself walking wherever. Soon enough, she finds herself staring blankly at your front door.

Your parents are probably asleep. You're probably asleep. But she remembers that your mom used to work early mornings on Tuesdays, so there's a chance she's awake. She has no idea what today is, but she hopes it's a Tuesday.

She continues staring at the white wooden door for what seems like forever until it opens by itself, your mom gasping in surprise at the sight of her standing so still. She ushers her inside from the cold and makes her a warm cup of tea, the one they shared so often when she would come over to hang out with you. Once your mom tries, and fails, to get her to drink at least two sips, she leads her over to your room.

"I don't know if he brought this up, but he has his first day of college today. 9 to 12 pm. You're welcome to stay until he gets back if you'd like." your mom whispers to her as she removes the dog from your bed, shushing it as it rapidly wags its tail and barks. You're still dead asleep and facing away from her.

Lottie nods dully and shuffles aside as your mom leaves. She doesn't waste any second before she crawls into your bed and gets under the covers with you. You subconsciously shift and wrap your arm around her waist as she gets comfortable and she smiles weakly, lifting her hand up to trace the features of your face.

"Lott?" you mumble sleepily, feeling your heart skip a beat at her being so close. "When did you get here?"

She gives you a small look, eyebrows furrowing together, and frowns. She doesn't feel like talking yet.
