이희승 — "Married to the one that got away" (I’m sorry yall…)
—
Heeseung was your first love.
You grew up in an insanely rich family. Like, ultra rich. You were spoiled, and you loved every second of it. As the heir to your father’s company, you never had to worry about working hard for a good future. Your future was already written for you, and it was perfect.
Or so you thought.
Until Heeseung came along.
He walked into your private class one day, looking like a scholarship student who had accidentally ended up in the wrong place. You attended one of the most elite schools in the city, where you received private lessons from the best teachers money could buy.
And then there he was.
His tie was red, the color reserved for the richest students. Yet, somehow, he didn’t exactly look the part. He looked more like a nerdy, studious kid who spent all his time buried in books.
“This is Heeseung,” your tutor announced. “He’ll be taking classes with you from now on.”
You raised an eyebrow.
So he was as rich as you?
You didn’t argue. Maybe having someone else around would make your private lessons a little less boring.
And then, somehow, you fell in love with him.
Heeseung wasn’t the nerdy boy you’d first imagined him to be. He was cool, charming, cute, and practically everything you’d ever wanted in a guy. Spending time with him quickly became your favorite part of the day, and before you even realized what was happening, he’d become someone you couldn’t imagine your life without.
For the first time, the future your parents had planned for you didn’t seem so perfect anymore.
Because that future included an arranged marriage.
Your parents had always made it clear that one day, you’d marry someone they considered suitable for you. Someone who fit into their plans and would be the right choice for your family’s future.
But you didn’t want someone they’d chosen for you.
You wanted Heeseung.
So, you started dating in secret.
Nobody knew about the two of you. You kept your relationship hidden from your families and everyone else who might find out. It wasn’t easy, but you made it work for a while.
You loved him, and he loved you.
Back then, that was enough.
Until it wasn’t.
Eventually, the secrecy became too much. Hiding your relationship was exhausting, and neither of you seemed to enjoy it the way you once had. Things changed, and the love that had once felt so effortless slowly began to fade.
You both knew something wasn’t right anymore.
So you broke up.
And just like that, Heeseung became your ex-boyfriend.
You thought that was it. You thought your relationship was over, and whatever future you might have imagined with him was something you’d have to leave behind.
You had no idea how wrong you were.
Because now, months later, Heeseung was sitting right beside you.
At your family dinner.
As your future husband.
The arranged marriage your parents had talked about all those years? The one you’d dreaded because you never wanted to be forced into a marriage with someone you didn’t love?
It had always been supposed to be with Heeseung.
Apparently, your parents had already decided that the two of you were the perfect match. And somehow, neither of you had known.
Now, you were sitting across from both your families, trying to process the fact that your ex-boyfriend was the very person you were expected to marry.
And, honestly, it was awkward as hell.
You had once loved this boy more than anything. You’d wanted a future with him, but things hadn’t worked out, and you’d accepted that.
Now, the future you’d tried to escape was sitting right beside you, wearing a familiar face.
And the worst part?
You had absolutely no idea what was going to happen next.
How the hell were you supposed to live with your ex-boyfriend from now on?
