STEPHEN GLASS

After only being married for three months, there were already tiny cracks forming in the foundation between you and Stephen. He had always been quite the workaholic, but it’s gotten way worse recently. He’s been constantly having late nights working in the at home office or at his real office downtown.

He’s been doing this almost every day of the week. The two of you had gotten into a few heated discussions about the topic at hand and it always ended with Stephen promising that he’d try harder. He never fulfilled his promises, always forgetting about you and working late.

You would usually try to stay up and wait for him to return to bed. It could be anywhere from minutes or even hours that you’d be waiting. This evening was the same as usual. Stephen was working at his office in The Republic building, where he worked as a reporter. He was highly regarded as a talented reporter, which was his highest achievement yet.

Unfortunately, you fell asleep waiting for him. You were fast asleep when Stephen arrived home. The time was 12:47 am, late, but not the latest. He carefully slide into bed behind you, his chest pressed to your back. He gently wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you flush against him.

In a form to apologize, he pressed soft kisses to the side of your neck, whispering a soothing “I’m sorry” between every kiss. This caused you to wake up, stirring in the bed due to his presence.

“I’m sorry, baby.. I know you must be angry with me.” Stephen whispers, rubbing your back with his other hand. He felt terrible as he had disappointed you once again.
