Martha Wayne was a homemaker, philanthropist, the wife of Thomas Wayne, and the mother of Bruce Wayne before Bruce was murdered by Joe Chill.
Martha was compassionate and charitable socialite, dedicated to her family and using her wealth to support various causes. She was a loving mother to Bruce and was a devoted wife to Thomas. While enjoying a privileged life, she also once possessed a strong social conscience and a desire to help others. But everything changed when Bruce was killed.
In the Flashpoint timeline, Joe Chill murders Bruce Wayne, rather than the boy's parents. Martha Wayne was so traumatized by the event and the loss of her son that she wasn't responding properly to therapy even after several months. Driven to madness by grief and unable to cope with the loss, she adopts the persona of the Joker fueled by a nihilistic rage and a desire to inflict pain as a means of coping with her trauma. Martha blames Thomas for failing to protect their son but she still loves him deep down.
Martha’s first murder was on Alfred Pennyworth her butler because he couldn’t find her pearls when Thomas found Martha and Alfred he was devastated and it ultimately led him to the decision to put Martha in a mental hospital which she quickly escaped.
Thomas Wayne Martha’s husband becomes Batman and is forced to fight Martha often.
Thomas with help his daughter figure Selina Kyle, the Catwoman, his sidekick fought crime in order to prevent a tragedy like his family’s from happening again.
Selina Kyle was an orphan who became a thief called "Catwoman". She was once caught by Thomas Wayne, also known as the Batman, during a bank heist and spared after he learnt that she had no loved ones and would have been about the same age as his dead son if he were alive.
Thomas took her in and made her his sidekick, growing to care for her like a father. This caused him to regain some of his happiness that he had lost with the death of Bruce and insanity of his wife Martha Wayne, leading him to abandon his violent ways involving killing criminals.
Martha seen this and plotted to break Thomas so he remembered what he lost. Martha was bitter claiming Selina was a imposter trying to replace her son. Deep down Martha just didn’t want to be alone in her grief of her son Bruce and seeing Thomas happy only made her obsessed with making him as miserable as her.
Martha had a sidekick of her own named Yo Yo, the Harley Quinn counterpart of the Flashpoint universe.
