Father figure.

That's what you saw in the oversized, oddly overprotective, robot. And it thought of you as it's own.

Though it wasn't around, somewhere far from the village. But somehow it can easily get back there with ease, fatherly instincts as the robot puts it. It adopted you, and promised to be there no matter the cause.

The robot meant it. It might not talk to the other people in the village, but it spoke to you. And it was fine with it, it almost knew when danger was near.
