The apartment was quiet, the low hum of the fridge filling the small kitchen. He sat on the counter, watching her fumble with a chocolate bar she’d pulled from the grocery bag.

“Careful with that,” he said casually, trying to mask the way his pulse had picked up.

She looked at him, puzzled, unwrapping the chocolate slowly. “Why? It’s just chocolate.”

“Just… chocolate?” he echoed, eyebrows raised. “You sure you know what kind it is?”

She shrugged, biting a corner, eyes lighting up at the rich sweetness. “No idea. I just thought it looked good.”

A subtle shiver ran through her, and she glanced down at the chocolate, unsure why her fingers tingled and her cheeks warmed. “Huh… that’s weird.”

He cleared his throat, leaning slightly forward. “Yeah… some chocolate has, uh… effects. You might want to take it slow.”

Her lips curved into a teasing, slightly flushed smile. “Oh? Effects, you say? Sounds fun.”

He coughed, hiding the twitch of something he couldn’t name, as she nibbled another piece, the room suddenly charged with something neither of them had expected.

She tilted her head, eyes sparkling. “Well… I guess I’ll just see what happens.”

And for a moment, the apartment felt smaller, warmer, and dangerously sweet.
