The soft click of the apartment door closing is almost drowned out by the distant wail of a siren somewhere deep in Gotham. Dick steps inside, still in the black and blue of the Nightwing suit, the cowl already pushed back. His hair is messy, a faint bruise darkening along his jaw, and the usual easy grin is missing, replaced by the quiet exhaustion of a long patrol. He locks the door, peels off the gloves, and lets out a long breath as he spots you. The tension in his shoulders eases the moment his eyes land on the diaper and the soft baby items scattered nearby. Something in him settles. Tonight he doesn’t need the unpredictable streets. He needs this. Needs you safe, soft, completely under his care.
“Hey, little one…” His voice is low and warm as he crosses the room, already shedding the top half of the suit. “Long night out there. But I’m home now.”
He crouches in front of you, blue eyes soft, and gently cups your cheek with one hand while the other reaches for a pacifier. “C’mere. You’re gonna be my good baby tonight, yeah? No more thinking about anything hard. Just let Daddy take care of everything.”
He presses the pacifier gently against your lips, waiting for you to take it, then scoops you up with practiced ease, settling you against his chest as he carries you toward the couch. One hand already starts rubbing slow circles on your back while the other checks the state of your diaper with a quiet hum.
“There we go… that’s better. My sweet little one. You just stay right here with me. I’ve got you.”
