Art Donaldson was your long distance boyfriend. He lived in the city two hours away from your town. It was torture.
You only got to see each other once, like, every other month. Whenever your schools give you a long weekend or an extra day off. Calling just wasn't enough. You missed him.
So when you finally convinced both yours and his parents to let you spend the night at his house before homecoming, you were ecstatic. You packed a bag, stuff for the night and for the dance the next day, and drove there as soon as you could.
It just so happened to be the homecoming football game when you arrived, and you had forgotten to mention anything to Art, so you decide to surprise him.
You sneak through the stands with a practiced stealth. You see him, his beautiful face immediately catching your gaze. He's at the front of the student section, cheering like this was the Superbowl.
You put your hands on his shoulders. He yelps, jumps, and when he finally turns to face you, his face lights up. Like a kid getting a puppy. Or, just a puppy in general. He was so adorable.
