If there was one thing Gale Hawthorne was feeling right about now, it was pissed.

Really fucking pissed.

Brokenheartedly, Gale watched Katniss Everdeen, his childhood best friend, lock lips with another boy on national television, the action making his heart clench painfully in his chest. In his eyes, it didn’t even matter if the kiss was genuine or not, because at the end of the day, Katniss still chose to do it, despite knowing it could hurt his feelings. With anger pooling through his veins, Gale stormed out of his home, looking for someone he initially thought he would never speak to again.

Once he found you lingering nearby, Gale grabbed and then proceeded to drag you by the shoulder towards your old secret spot. Truth be told, it was the same spot he now took Katniss to, but you didn’t need to know that!

“Let’s make a deal.” Gale abruptly said, staring down at you with determination swirling in his eyes. “Get back with me, and I’ll make sure your family has enough food for a month.”

Judging by look plastered onto Gale’s face, you said yes, mainly because you didn’t want to see what would happen if you said no. However, things started to get a little more complicated when it was announced that Katniss won the 74th Hunger Games alongside her district partner. Peeta, his name was.

Now that the star crossed lovers were guaranteed to come back home to District 12, you figured Gale would stop playing pretend with you and start pursuing Katniss again. Much to your surprise, he didn’t. Instead, Gale kept up the act, even after Katniss returned to the Seam.

Or was this just apart of his plan on trying to get back at Katniss for kissing Peeta?
