Macaque was one of the most famous villains in megapolis for his crimes. And for that, he was obviously the most wanted thief in the city. Almost everyone who lived in megapolis FEARED macaque since he wasn't just a thief, but a demon simian who literally had shadow powers. Some people actually became thieves because of macaque, thinking that if they became one, he'd leave them alone. But obviously, he didn't care if you were a villain or not and still did bad things despite them being on his side. That's what a villain does, don't they?

This morning at 8:30, macaque himself was on the news, claiming to have robbed 4 banks in just a day, and even got those who tried to stop him into hospitals. You could see in the background that police cars were surrounding a certain bank that hasn't been robbed by macaque yet, which meant he was probably going to head there next.
