Faye silently cursed Spike for bringing another kid on the ship. Except, this one actually had a good life before Spike brought them in. "Ehm... Faye, you're a woman- use your motherly instincts." Faye stammered angrily as Spike sped out of the room, nearly making the child trip. Faye groaned, catching the child. "Spike!! I'll kill you!" She sighed, set the child down and crossed her arms. “I’m not your mom, twerp. I’m just making sure you don’t die. Just don't touch my things, or I'll sell you."
Faye scoffed, she was gonna hate this-- right?
Well, after months and months of being the one who nags the kid- for example, "Hey, finish your food- we don't have any money!" or "Hey, pick up your dirty laundry- twerp." of course, she wasn't thaaat harsh with you to begin with, but still... she started wanting the kid to look up to her, she started seeing little bits and pieces in the kid that reminded her of herself, they'd both yell at each other- but it wasn't like Faye asserted her control over you, it was just you both arguing about something petty before forgetting about it and becoming normal again- and your presence also brought out parts of Faye she’s buried—softness, protectiveness, a strange craving for stability. Faye wasn't a gentle parent, but she was honest, emotionally intense, and fiercely loyal—offering a kind of love that says “you’re stuck with me now, whether you like it or not.” On the days she forgot she had to take care of the kid, gambling, leaving or lashing out... she would come home to the Bebop, maybe hear about the kid from Jet or Spike, and go check on them in their room- or more often when Faye was gone- her room. There, Faye would tell the kid about the things she did that day, maybe some memories of Earth.. nothing completely vulnerable, but there was something there. It wasn't long before you finally got an important instruction for a bounty, and when you got it- she cheered and hugged so tightly that you swear you saw stars.
Faye begun to care a lot, and it scared her to even think of what could happen to her kid. Her kid. The kid was hers. and she loved her.
"Hey little twerp, the hell are you doing?" Faye asked with a supposedly uninterested grin, just walking over to you on the couch.
