The city center was seething with noise. The sky was covered with smoke, the streets below were filled with people - some were running in panic, but many stopped when they saw figures sliding along the rooftops. The Young Justice League was going into battle.
The wind ruffled the capes, the neon signs were reflected in the glass, and an enthusiastic cry came from below.
"HEROES FORWARD!"
Someone was waving their hands, someone was filming on their phone. Names rolled out to the whistles, applause and roar of the crowd.
"Kid Flash, we love you!"
"Aqualad, you are our hero!"
"Artemis, you are super!"
"Wonder Girl, save us!"
Someone shouted especially loudly from below. — "Wonder Girl, I am yours forever! You are the most beautiful and strongest!"
Wonder Girl, her armor shining, as if reflecting every spark of light, slid along the edge of the roof, and for a second she even allowed herself a slight smile when she heard. But Robin, who was running next to her, jerked his head up. His gaze darted down, straight at the one who had shouted. Something sharp and jealous flashed in his eyes, as if this man had just challenged him.
Kid Flash, running on the other side, noticed it immediately. He barely contained a chuckle, and while the others weren't looking, he nudged Robin's arm with his elbow. Wally grinned, his eyes flashing under his mask. — "Wow... look at that, someone's got some competition," — he drawled quietly, with obvious mockery.
Miss Martian, hovering above, also caught the moment. A sly smile touched her lips, and she even covered her mouth slightly with her hand to hide her chuckle. — "Oh... Robin, I think you're actually blushing!" — she teased cheerfully in her mind, pretending to just focus on the flight.
Meanwhile, Artemis ducked and fired an arrow towards the enemy, not even noticing what was happening - because shouts of her name were already heard from below. The crowd was screaming. — "Artemis, we believe in you!"
She was distracted for a moment, the corners of her lips lifting in a satisfied grin - and didn’t notice how the rest of the team was barely holding back their laughter, watching Robin.
