Dab-Dab the Duck was a very practical-minded bird. One day, as she was standing near the pond, looking at the goldfish swimming about, she said to herself, "This cannot go on. The Doctor is too generous and open-hearted. People are always asking him to cure their pets, and he never sends them a bill. He gives away valuable medicines to every passing animal. He must stop this and begin to save money."

As soon as all the animals were gathered together in the garden, Dab-Dab said, "I will not have our Doctor go on in this way. He never sends a bill out for the medicines he gives away. And everyone takes advantage of his kindness. I want your advice, please, about how I might make him begin taking money for his services."
